Climate
Our planet is undergoing an irreversible climate breakdown caused by burning fossil fuels. While Democrats passed some significant legislation, like the IRA law passed in 2022, it is only the first step. On the other hand, GOP and former president has consistently called the climate crisis a "Chinese hoax" and promised to accelerate the fossil fuel extraction. Trump and GOP majority will reverse every environmental protection, and will make our future much much worse. I join every leading environment organization endorsing Kamala Harris for president.
Human rights
I don't want to live in the country where abortion is illegal. Such ban causes suffering and deaths affecting only the people who cannot go to another country when they need one (for a very good reason, I am sure). Denying women choice, banning IVF, destroying family planning - this affects every person in the country. I join Planned Parenthood action committee endorsing Kamala Harris for president.
I am also in shock by the blatant racism and hate towards immigrants shown by trump and his party. It is scary to hear such scapegoating directed towards people, especially the most vulnerable refugees. Plans to make camps to deport millions of people, lies about crimes, lies about eating pets - this is not an American way. Or at least, it should not be. I join ACLU in clearly seeing the difference between two candidates in how they treat human beings and their rights.
War in Europe
Never in my life have I seen such subservient behavior as the former president shows to the Russian dictator putin. There is a war in Europe, and my family members in Ukraine are dying protecting their country. A vote for trump, or a vote wasted on a 3rd-party candidate can lead to the Russian takeover of Ukraine, followed by more wars as trump breaks up Nato. I join National Security Leaders for America endorsing Kamala Harris for president.
Project 2025
Trump is a transaction person. He has no core beliefs and just says whatever makes him look good right now. His governing will be determined by the Heritage Foundation's Project 2025 plan. This plan ensures that potential trump second term will be much different from the first one. Non-political professionals and experts in government will be replaced with maniacs and MAGA-faithful. Sane policies will be thrown away to enrich a small group of already super rich people. Protections and checks will be ignored, leading to suffering. This is not an American way. This is madness and a recipe for country's self-destruction. I join many many many Unions endorsing Kamala Harris for president.
Character
I am raising my son to be a good person. Lying is a big no-no, since it breaks trust. Former president trump has repeatedly lied about his actions, his plans, hurricanes, basically everything. If you were interviewing him for a normal job, you would reject him immediately. So many lies, such a blatant disregard for truth and objectivity, lack of personal responsibility - that is not normal. Trump's deteriorating mental state, the word salad in his speeches - this man should not be in charge of the country. I agree with former members of trump administration endorsing Kamala Harris for president. Note: half of trump's cabinet members do not support his 2024 candidacy, even if they do not officially endorse Kamala Harris. This even includes former Vice-President Mike Pence; this is the first time in American history when a former VP did not endorse his former office mate.
Crimes
Trump is a convicted felon running for office. This is the first time in American history when a convicted criminal is running. Not for a political activity but a plain business records falsification. Convicted on all counts by a jury of his peers. In addition, there are 3 more serious crimes hanging over trump; he is not in jail only because he is protected by the judges he has appointed. Trump must face justice. I join former Justice Department officials and prosecutors endorsing Kamala Harris for president.
Ok, I think these are good reasons. There are others, but I don't think I can change anyone's mind.
If you are a solid trump supporter, I am sorry to hear this; you were conned by a failed businessman running to stay out of jail.
But if you are considering NOT voting this election: please please please, we need every vote. Sitting out this election (or voting 3rd-party) might tilt the results towards trump, and then it would be bad for people, climate, and YOU. No one is going to be safe with the lunatic in the White House, surrounded by Project 2025 true believers. Go to https://vote.gov/ to register and then vote. Vote like your life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness depend on it, because they just might.
